Adding a Sengled Smart LED PAR38 to your Sengled Hub

Before getting started, do not power the bulbs on first. This may cause them to fall out of their three-minute pairing mode. Make sure your phone is connected to the same 2.4 GHz WiFi that your hub is on.

The first thing you would want to do is open the Sengled Home app and press the three dots in a circle symbol located in the top-right of the screen. Then, press “Add Device”.

From here, press “Smart LED Lights”, then select the hub you wish to add the bulb to and press “Next”.

In the provided example, there is only one hub associated with the account.

Now, press “Scan Code” to bring up the QR code scanner. This will allow us to scan the QR code on the bulb itself.

When scanning the QR code, hold your phone in one hand and the bulb in the other. Try to scan in a well-lit area. The bulb’s QR code should be about six inches to one foot away from the scanner.

The camera will auto-focus in on the QR code and scan it automatically.

If you need more light, feel free to press the flashlight button below the QR code scanner. If you are having trouble scanning the QR code, you can press “Enter MAC Address” located on the bottom of the QR code scanning screen.

After you have scanned the QR code of the bulb, you will be on a screen that shows you a picture of the bulb, the model number of the bulb and the MAC/ZID number of the bulb. If you have another bulb to add, press “Scan Another One”; if not, press “Next”.

After scanning the bulb(s) you wish to add to your hub and pressing “Next”, you would screw the bulb(s) into the location you want to use them in and power them on.

Please note that Sengled Smart LED Bright White PAR38 bulbs cannot be used on dimmer switches. This would include wall dimmers, ceiling fan fixtures and 3-way lamps (lamps with low, medium and high-power settings built-in).

Furthermore, they will not work as intended if they are being used on fixtures with built-in motion detectors or if the motion sensor is exposed to direct sunlight.

Additionally, Sengled Element PAR38 bulbs are not meant to be used in fully-enclosed fixtures

After the bulbs are powered on, press “Next” on the “Turn on your Lights” screen.

From here, the scanned bulbs will add to your hub. They will flash three times during this process to indicate they are being added to your hub. In the provided example, we are only setting up one Sengled Smart LED Bright White PAR38.

Once added to your hub, you will see a green checkmark next to the bulb. Press “Next” to proceed.

Once you are on the “Congratulations” screen, you can assign bulbs to a room. To visually identify which bulb you are assigning to a room, press the power button a few times until you can visually tell which bulb you are about to assign to a room in the Sengled Home app.

In the provided example, the “Bedroom” room is selected by default. The Element PAR38 bulb will physically be in the backyard. So, by tapping on “Add Room” in the Sengled Home app, we can create a room named “Backyard”. Now, in the “Add a New Room” pop-up, we can tap on where the red arrow is and type in “Backyard”.

Once you are done naming the room or selecting the room of your choice, press “Ok”.

As you can see the bulb is now in the “Backyard” room in the Sengled Home app and has automatically been renamed “Backyard Bulb 1”

If you want to change the name of the bulb, press “Backyard Bulb 1” and type in a new name.

The Sengled Smart LED Bright White PAR38 can function as a motion detecting bulb. To have the bulb function as a motion detecting bulb, you would want to turn the light off with the Sengled Home app and enable motion detection.

For more information about this, please see our “Enabling the Sengled Smart LED Bright White PAR38 bulb’s motion detection feature:”

Otherwise, if you are happy with the room and name of the bulb, press “Done”.
