Note: These instructions are for connecting your Sengled Smart Wi-Fi LED bulbs to your Echo device. These instructions will only work if you set the Sengled Smart Wi-Fi LED bulbs up in the Sengled Home app.
If you have already setup the Sengled Home Skill in the Alexa app to work with your Sengled hub and bulbs, you will not need to do these steps.
Note: The images correspond to how the setup looks on an iOS device. The Android version may look slightly different. The Alexa app may look different when you are setting up the Sengled Home Skill due to updates to the Alexa app. The essence of the instructions will, however, still be relevant.
1. Open the “Alexa” app and press the three lines in the top-left corner of the Alexa app; from here, press “Skills & Games”.
2. This will take you to the “All Skills” page in the Alexa app.
Press the magnifying glass in the top-right corner of the screen.
A search bar will appear. Type in “Sengled”.
3. After typing in Sengled, you will see three options.
Tap on the one that says “Sengled Home”.
From here, you will be redirected to the available skills.
Tap on the one named “Sengled Home”.
This will redirect you to a webpage to where you will type in the login credentials for your Sengled Home app.
4. Tap on “Enable to Use”.
This will redirect you to a page where you will type in the email address and password associated with your Sengled Home app.
5. From here, you will type in the password that is associated with your Sengled Home app to connect your Sengled bulbs to your Echo device(s).
The Sengled Home app is the app you would have used to setup the Smart Wi-Fi LED bulbs up initially.
Note: The login credentials for the Sengled website will not work on this page. The Sengled website login credentials are for purchasing Sengled products from the Sengled website.
In the area circled in green, type in the email address associated with your Sengled Home app; do not use the autofill feature as the autofill feature of some phones does not fill in the email address properly—i.e. adding in a space at the beginning or end of the email address.
In the area circled in purple, type in the password associated with your Sengled Home app.
After the email address and password are typed in, press “Sign In”.
6. Once the account is linked, you will be on a page stating “Sengled Home has been successfully linked.”
From here, press the “X” icon to close out of this page and navigate back to the Amazon Alexa app.
The Alexa app will now prompt you to discover the devices associated with your Sengled account. Press “Discover Devices”.
7. The Alexa app will search for devices.
After your devices are discovered, press the “Devices” tab located at the bottom-right of the screen to organize your bulbs faster.
8. You can press “Lights” as indicated by the green circle, to see your Sengled lights that have been linked to work with your Alexa.
We recommend pressing the plus sign, circled in red, in the top right corner to group your bulbs together to control them as a group.
9. Press the “Add Group” option in the pop-up.
From here, we will select the name of the group. We can type in a custom name by pressing “Custom Name” at the top of the screen or use one of the suggestions under “Common Names”.
Since we have several bulbs in the “Bedroom” group in the Sengled Home app, and since we would want to control all of the bulbs in the bedroom with one voice command, we will tap on “Bedroom”.
10. After selecting your desired room, press “Next”.
This will take us to the “Define Group” page. Tap on every bulb you would like to have fall under the previously selected group—in the example, we will choose all of the bulbs that begin with the “Bedroom” prefix.
We will have to scroll down, as indicated by the red arrow to see all of the bulbs.
11. We tapped on all the bulbs with the prefix “Bedroom”. We know these bulbs are selected since they have a blue check next to their respective named (as indicated by the green circle).
Once you have selected all the bulbs you want to fall under the group, press “Save”.
12. From here, we will be redirected back to the “Devices” page of the Alexa app. Now, we can control the bulbs as a group.
Here is a list of some commands that apply to all Sengled bulbs:
“[Wake word for Echo device] set [group’s name/bulb’s name] to [0-100] percent.”
Using our previous example and our Echo device, we would say, “Alexa, set Bedroom to 1%.”
“[Wake word for Echo device] turn [group’s name/bulb’s name] on/off”
Using our previous example and our Echo device, we would say, “Alexa, turn Bedroom off.”
