How do I add a device to my hub?

Beyond the guides that outline how to add Element Classic, Plus and Color Plus bulbs to your Element Hub, there are other methods on how to add devices.

Method 1:

Before getting started, do not power the bulbs on, as this may cause them to fall out of their three-minute pairing mode. Make sure your phone is connected to the same 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network that your hub is on.

Choose the hub that the device is going to be added to first. In this example, we will be adding an Element Touch to the hub.

First, navigate to the “Devices” tab is located at the bottom of the “Home” screen. Tap “Devices” then you will be on the “Devices” screen. From here, tap on the icon of your applicable hub.

This will take you to a screen that indicates the hub’s name at the top. From here, press “Add Sub Devices”. This will bring up the “Locate the QR Code” screen. Scan the QR code on the bulb. Tap on “Scan Code” to bring up the QR code scanner.

Scan the QR code of the device. Once the QR code is scanned, the Sengled Home app will proceed to the next step.

Note: The screenshot of the Sengled Home app scanning the QR code of the Element Touch bulb was taken moments before it scanned.

Since this is an Element Touch bulb, we will have to select the correct model number. The screenshot to the left is the default model number, In the case of the correct model number, which is listed on the bulb, is “Z01-CIA19NAE26”. Tap the correct model number.

The screenshot on the right shows the correct model number has been selected. Once that is done, press “Next.”

If you are not scanning a bulb that asks you to select a model number, you will be on a screen that asks you to turn you lights on. Once they are on, press “Next”

After the device has been added to your hub, you will be on a screen that says “Success” next to the bulb; from here, press “Next”.

Now, you will be on a screen that says “Congratulations!” Assign the bulb to a room and press “Done”. In this example, we assigned the bulb to a the “Living Room” and then we pressed “Done”.

Alternative Method 2:

Before getting started, do not power the bulbs on, as this may cause them to fall out of their three-minute pairing mode. Make sure your phone is connected to the same 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network that your hub is on.

The first thing you would want to do is open the Sengled Home app and press “More” located at the top-right of the screen. Then, press “Add Device”.

Do not power the bulb on until directed to by the app. As an example, we will add the Sengled Element Classic A19 bulb to the hub.

From here, press “Scan QR code” and you will see the QR code scanner on your screen. Scan the QR code of the device. In this case, we will scan the QR code on the Sengled Element Classic A19 bulb.

After scanning the bulb, you will select the hub to which you would like to add the device to. In this case, there is only one hub to choose from.

Once you are on the “Turn on your Lights” screen, screw the bulb into the compatible fixture you wish to use it in and power it on.

Important: Sengled Element Plus bulbs are the only bulbs that are compatible with traditional wall dimmers.

From here, the scanned bulb(s) will add to your hub. They will flash three times during this process to indicate they are being added to your hub.

Once the bulb has been added to your hub, you will see a green checkmark next to it. Press “Next” to proceed.

Once you are on the “Congratulations” screen, you can assign a bulb to a room. To visually identify which bulb you are assigning to a room, press the power button a few times until you can visually tell which bulb you are about to assign to a room in the Sengled Home app.

In the provided example, we tapped on “Bedroom” to add the bulb to the “Bedroom” group in the Sengled Home app. This will automatically name the bulb “Bedroom Bulb 4”. This is because it is the fourth bulb being used in the bedroom. Remember, you can always change the name of the bulb tapping on the preset name and typing in a new one.

Once you are done, press “Done”

The room information will refresh, and you will see that the total number of bulbs in the “Bedroom” is four (as indicated by the total of the numbers next to the red lightbulb icon and the grey lightbulb icon.)
